Payment Options

The Interim Property Tax Notice are usually mailed in February and is broken into two installments, which are due on the third Friday of March and May.

The Final Property Tax Notice are usually mailed in July and identifies any outstanding or credit account balances at the time of billing. The Final Tax Notice is broken into two installments, which are due on the third Friday of August and October.

If you have multiple properties, tax payments must correspond to the appropriate roll number, as found on your tax notice.

Penalties/Interest

On the first day of each month, the penalties/interest are calculated. Penalty/Interest rates are 1.25% per month.

When a payment is received it will be applied in the following order:

  1. Penalties/Interest from any year;
  2. Outstanding taxes

Property owners are responsible for paying their property taxes even if the tax notice did not arrive by mail/email. Not receiving the tax notice will not excuse the owner from penalty/interest charges.

Other/General payment fees must be made by one of the following options: E-transfer, credit card Paymentus or in person at the Municipal office.

Failure to use the proper option for any payments could mean it may get applied incorrectly and cause delays in processing, please follow all instructions carefully! 

Payments

Bill Payment

Add Strong Township as a payee (search for Taxes, Township of Strong or Strong Township). Your account number is your 19 digit Roll number: 4946 XXX XXX XXXX 0000, it is used to identify which property your tax payment should be applied to. Please ensure you setup a separate payee profile for each roll number, if you have more than one.

Auto Deposit

Log in to your online banking or mobile app.

Go to the E-transfer section and choose E-transfer option.

Add the email address deputytreasurer@strongtownship.com as a contact. Usually the bank will let you give the recipient a nickname, like "Tax Payment" or "General Payment". Once the recipient has been added, select it to send your payment. 

Important:  In the message/comments section of the E-transfer, please enter a detailed description of your payment. Without this information, it will be difficult to process and apply the payment appropriately. This may cause delays and penalties could be applied.

Property Tax Payment: Enter your 19 digit Roll number. If you have more than one property you will need to do a separate transaction for each property. 

Other/General Payment: Enter description; entrance permit, 911 number, trailer permit, tax statement, ZBA, OPA, etc. 

PAD

You can enroll in an automatic payment plan where your tax payment amount(s) is withdrawn from your bank account either monthly or on installment dates throughout the year.

Please complete the Pre-Authorized Payment Form and email it to deputytreasurer@strongtownship.com or pick up a form at the Municipal office.

Note: Third party cheques will not be accepted.

Web Payment 

Use our web payment form to pay your taxes. Credit cards are only accepted at this time. 

Please note a service fee of 2.00% of the payment amount for any credit card transaction is the responsibility of the credit card holder and will be applied to the transaction.

Paymentus

Using Paymentus Corporation, a third party provider, you can pay your taxes or other fees by using a credit card.

Access online, or by telephone 1-877-241-0248.

Tax Payments

You will need your 19 digit Roll number to complete credit card payment for taxes. The roll number is located on your tax notice.

A payment description is required please provide the civic address or legal description for the property you are paying for. If you have more than one property you will need to do a separate transaction for each property. 

Other/General Payments

You will need a 8 digit account number to complete the credit card payment for other/general items (i.e. application fees, trailer fees, entrance permit, 911 number, tax statement). Please use the date of the transaction for the eight digit account number (example: yyyymmdd - 20250311).

A payment description is required please provide a detailed description on the item you are pay for (i.e. trailer permit, 911 number, tax statement, ZBA etc.).  

Bank Branch

You will need to attend your bank branch and provide the customer service representative with your 19 digit Roll number. The bank needs the Roll number to use as your account number for tax payments.

It is suggested you should take your tax notice with you when making your payment at the bank.

Municipal Office

The Municipal Administration office is open for public access on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, closed Wednesday, Statutory Holidays or by posted notification. 

A drop box in the front lobby is accessible for payments/correspondence on Wednesdays during normal office hours.

Acceptable forms of payment at the Administration office is cash, cheques or debit. Cheques can be post dated and held until the tax notice due date.
