Zoning

Purpose of a Zoning By-law

A Zoning By-law identifies the zones that show how a property can be used. A property can be used for various land uses that range from residential to commercial to industrial to rural to environmentally protected, along with many other land uses.

A zoning bylaw contains provisions that regulate:

  • how land can be used;
  • what can be built on a property;
  • the use, size, height, density and location of buildings and/or structures on a property; and
  • where a building and/or structure can be located on a property.

Township Zoning By-law

The Township of Strong is governed by one Zoning By-law shown below.

Please note:  Amendments to the Zoning By-laws are common.  Accordingly, all information contained in the links below should be confirmed with Township Staff.

For any zoning inquiries, please contact the Clerk Administrator or Deputy Clerk by email.

A Zoning/Building Compliance Report is provided to lawyers, acting for the owner on the purchase or sale of a property. The report gives information to the purchaser on the zoning and if there are outstanding building permits/inspections/deficiencies on the property. There is a fee charged for this report.

Purchasers can have their lawyers write a letter requesting a report along with payment to the Township of Strong to be certain of the zoning and to ensure there are no outstanding items when the purchaser takes ownership. If the lawyer is paying by cheque and includes a copy with their request the report can be emailed/faxed once completed.
